Working from Home- The New Normal?

Posted by Mike A on

Recent months have forced many people to set up office at home, which is turning into the new way of life, even after the official end of lockdown. In many cases their office and normal place of work was shut and employees were forced to set up at home, and carry on working from there. For some, being in the office is an escape from home life or the only place they can get work done. For others, especially those with a long commute, working from home provides a much better work/life balance.

Many companies are noticing more productivity from their employees since they have been at home and a lot of workers have admitted that they often work for longer than before. For most though, working from home is no more than perching a laptop on a couch or dining room table. Many are completely unaware that they already have something in their home which can help them: their Smart TV

Many recent TVs have the ability to display the content of your laptop or even your phone on a display big enough to reduce eye strain and headache-inducing squinting often encountered with smaller displays. Video calls, especially those with larger numbers of participants, feel much more intuitive, and require just a few clicks to set up. Rooms co-opted into becoming part-time office spaces can benefit from the addition of a Smart TV and when not on office duty, can help us to kick back when work is over and we need to relax.

A recent survey for headset manufacturer Shure found that four out of five main frustrations with virtual meetings relate to audio – background noise, echoes, sound cutting out and not being able to hear the other meeting participants. So it is essential that you have a high quality audio feed whether through a headset, earpiece or microphone.

However, without pairing the audio to a good video display, you miss the personal feel of a meeting, which is often key to doing successful business.

Few of us want to turn our homes into fully functioning office spaces 100% of the time. With good advice, and use of the right Home Entertainment products, you can truly get the 'Best of Both Worlds' as well as far less visual impact, on what after all is your space, not your employer's!
